The ‘push present’ has gotten a lot of press in the last few years. For those of you who don’t know, a ‘push present’ is a gift given to a new mom for essentially having a baby (whether they pushed majorly hard or had major surgery).
While I’m sure we can all agree that our bundle of joy is the true present in the birthing experience, I’m never one to turn down a gift. So when Smyth Jewelers reached out to me about coming in to see the options they had for push presents, I rushed over as quick as my nine month pregnant body would allow.
I didn’t really know where to start since we didn’t have our baby’s name completely nailed down nor did we know exactly which month she was coming, but I went ahead and looked at some personalized options anyway. Smyth told me as soon as I had those details I could email them over and they’d process it immediately – which is a great option for anyone looking to make a gift personal as soon as baby arrives.
The following options come in a variety of price points which makes it easy to gift someone at any relation – friend, spouse, daughter, close coworker etc.
This piece is by designer Michael M – its 14K gold with .05cts on an adjustable chain. I love the simplicity of this gift with the initial of the newborn. Even when I’m not with Ryleigh, I love looking down seeing this piece and knowing she’s always with me. Retails for $600.
This piece is by the vendor My Story – the newborn’s birthstone can be featured as well as a diamond or the birth stone of the mom, sibling, husband etc. The gold disc can also feature initials. Its easily personalized to what means the most. This necklace specifically retails for $925, but again is completely customizable which allows for flexibility in price.
Another gorgeous piece by My Story is this birthstone ring. As with the piece above, this ring is completely customizable, allowing for all stones to be one birthstone of the newborn or several variations to include the birthstones of other family members. Personally, I like the idea of stacking these rings and getting separate rings for each born. This ring retails for $780.
I love the simplicity of this disc necklace. The vendor is Posh Mommy and this piece is super affordable coming in at only $70 with the personalization. This can be stacked with other necklaces and is great for the modern mom.
Another option from Posh Mommy is this dog tag style piece that can be personalized with a full name and birth stone. These pieces are a little more expensive since there is more lettering and the gem stone, they start at around $280.
The thing I like about these pieces is most is being able to stack them. The staff at Smyth Jewelers are so helpful in finding the perfect piece(s). I was able to stack several to see how they’d look for future kids down the road or just because!
Big thank you to Smyth Jewelers for sponsoring this post and showing me all the options for delicate and buildable push present pieces! Be sure to stop by your local Smyth Jewelers location (Annapolis, Timonium and Ellicott City) to treat the expectant mama in your lift!
